Stock Market Game Blog

This semester, you will be playing the Stock Market Game and managing a $100,000 investment portfolio with your partner. Each week, you will reflect on how your portfolio performed and provide your thoughts in a blog post that your teacher, classmates, and others will be able to read and respond to.

This will give you a chance to offer and ask for advice and/or warnings about certain investments, provide your reactions to market activity and news that has occurred over the week, and indicate your hopes and predictions regarding where the markets (and your specific investments in the SMG) are heading.

DFT: $32.99   $33.60   gained $153.35
AAPL: $124.74   $124.24   lost $24.75
PAEBX: $16.28   $15.91   lost $74.24
We felt really good about our portfolio until the Dow dropped. We moved from 6th place to 53rd/56th place. The only stock that is making us money is DFT, but only a profit of about $91. We believe this stock is doing well because it was cheaper and less known. DD is performing poorly in our portfolio. We've lost a little over $1000. We heard that the Dow was down and saw that it really was, this is a big factor in why we're losing so much money.
We would like to see our ranking move back up like it was last week. All of our stocks are expected to increase in their yearly target estimate. Analyst are predicting that it is going to rise as well, and investors shouldn't sell their stocks just because it's doing poorly right now. We agree because if the Dow goes back up, the profit should increase as well. In order to make profit, we believe the Dow needs to rise again.
